He is with his buddy, Banquo, another soldier, and they meet the three witches. Macbeth doesn’t know he’s the new captain yet. So he kills the Thane of Cawdor and makes Macbeth his new captain. Then the king finds out his army won the war. Then this dude Ross (a Thane – Thanes are noblemen) shows up and tells the king that the Thane of Cawdor, who was a captain in the king’s army, is a dirty traitor. Then he tells the king that some dude named Macbeth was a big hero and kicked ass in the battles. The soldier tells the king the war is a big bloodbath. The king is really old and asks some soldier how the war is going. Then the story cuts to a military camp, where there is a rebellion against King Duncan of Scotland). The three witches practice some witchcraft stuff, and talk about meeting a dude named Macbeth. Duncan is going to give the throne to Malcolm, but he gets killed. In the end, Macduff kills Macbeth.ĭuncan: He is a nice old king. During the story they keep giving Macbeth predictions of the future. They can control the weather and disappear into thin air. Three Witches: Also called the "weird sisters." They are real witches with magical powers. In the story, Malcolm takes on Macbeth and wins.

She has Macbeth kill so they will have more power. She will do anything to get power and success. Throughout the story he becomes more and more insane and towards the end the guy is a complete wacko. He starts out as a nice guy, but becomes corrupted by power. He is really ambitious, like he wants to be king and will do anything to get what he wants, but he feels really guilty about all the bad stuff he does. By the way, if you want to annoy your actor friends, say the word "Macbeth" backstage at one of their plays – actors believe it brings bad luck to the show. The story here is about Macbeth’s struggle for power – he wants to be king.
